KITCHEN DESIGN – MODERN KITCHENS THAT ARE BEAUTIFUL AND PRACTICAL

BLUM DYNAMIC SPACE WORKSHOP

 

Did you know that your kitchen should, on average, last up to 20 years!! Is your kitchen fit for everyday use?  Is your kitchen beautiful to look at, as well as practical?

 

The “work triangle” concept that was used to design kitchens in the 80’s is now redundant. Our modern kitchens are no longer used by one main person, nor are they any longer separate from the dining area. These days kitchens tend to be open plan to incorporate the needs and space for all family members, and to allow for easy entertaining.

 

The staff at TH Kitchens + Joinery attended the BLUM “Dynamic Space” Workshop last week to learn about modern kitchen design and to stay up to date with the functions and fittings of the newest cabinet solutions produced by BLUM. The “dynamic space” concept incorporates research to ensure that kitchens not only look good, but are practical and suit every customer’s individual needs.

 

At this workshop we learnt that a practical kitchen requires three essential features:
• Workflow (based on your normal daily activities),
• Space (optimising storage space) and
• Motion (for enhanced user convenience and quality).

Kitchens can be divided into five zones:
consumables, non-consumables, cleaning, preparation and cooking.
The relationship between these 5 zones and the way you use your kitchen on a daily basis, size of your family, cooking and shopping habits, appreciation for entertaining….. all these aspects should be incorporated to design a kitchen that will provide you many years of enjoyment and satisfaction.

 

We at TH Kitchens choose to only use BLUM hardware in our projects. We have trialled other products in the past, however we can’t go past the high quality, the lifetime warranty and the simple and beautiful functionality of BLUM products.
